Japan has announced plans to build a Solar powered plant and send to space to orbit earth. Mitsubishi Electric Corp. and IHI Corp. will join a 2 trillion yen ($21 billion) Japanese project intending to build a giant solar-power generator in space within three decades and beam electricity to earth.
Microwave beams sending electricity from space to power our homes may sound like a concept straight out of a science fiction novel, but looks like its all going to be a reality, soon!
By 2015, the Japanese government hopes to test a small satellite decked out with solar panels that beams power through space and back to Earth.
California's biggest energy utility, PG&E, made a similar announcement back in April this year.
