Google Caffeine – Search on Steroids?

theFundooGeek! | USA :

This past Monday big brother Google quietly began soliciting feedback for its next generation search engine codenamed Caffeine. A large army of developers has been working on the next generation architecture for Google's web search for last couple of years.

According to Google Webmaster Central blog, "It's the first step in a process that will let us push the envelope on size, indexing speed, accuracy, comprehensiveness and other dimensions.". According to Sitaram Iyer and Matt Cutts, engineers at Google, "We want to make a system that is more robust, that can do more, and do more faster.".

The feedback from early testers have been very healthy. Almost everyone agrees that Google Caffeine yields more results, with better accuracy than the company's existing search engine. The positive feedback could help Google maintain its lead over rival Microsoft, which recently unveiled its own overhauled search engine Bing.

Google said it is not changing the user interface as part of the Caffeine update, nor does the update affect the ranking of ads on the search engine. But Google claims things have gotten a little faster: speed is a side benefit of the decision to focus on improving how documents are indexed with the new update.

Google did not state when it plans for formally launch its Caffeine architecture.
